    NEW NEW ORLEANS?

Right after Katrina hit, some experts on TV said the coastal region was definitely changing and was going to continue to do so. That, bit by bit, Southern Louisiana was being flooded by Gulf waters. Of course, there was also a lot of talk from many quarters - and not just the French one - about rebuilding and making the levees better, higher.

Well, the story may be coming back around to the the point made by those early critics of re-building New Orleans where it is now . . . because New Orleans is slowly leaving the building. Indeed, it is sinking quite rapidly; read THIS ARTICLE for details.

I know the people of the region do not want to accept this is happening; or if they do believe it, they want to find some way to compensate. Any plan to that end, however, would require a whole lot of tax dollars - so I think it is time for New Orleans to renew itself on higher ground.
