CBS NEWS - CAN KENDALLVILLE GET ON IT?

Last night CBS News announced that each Friday reporter Steve Hartman will present three story ideas and views can log into CBS and vote for which one they want him to cover.

This week it is 1) Do-it-yourself funerals 2) A phone device that will tell you if you are talking with a jerk and 3) The smallest town - Monowi, Nebraska.

I voted for the do-it-yourself funeral since I have just written about funerals and funeral directors. The CBS page says only "one bizzare old lady" lives in the smallest town. I don't know if they should have used the word "bizarre" but then I guess they want to draw attention to the topic and maybe she even likes the reference. The link above which highlights the town shows two residents - Elsie and her husband Rudy. Now she is the only one. I don't know if Rudy passed away or not. I'll look at the Social Security Death Index and see if I can find out anything. Gee, the computer/Internet age . . . the things you can find out.

So, just how bizarre do I have to be to get us some national primetime news coverage?

UPDATE: Rudy Eiler died 18 Jan 2004 Lynch, Boyd, Nebraska.
