    AUTO WORKERS AT IT AGAIN

Oh, UAW, well thank you for this. (Can you sense the sarcastic tone?)

Strike 2: UAW shuts down Chrysler

More than 31,000 workers start second nationwide auto strike in less than two weeks, this time hitting No. 4 U.S. automaker.

APPLE FESTIVAL PICTURES - SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Look up in the photo gallery, but here's a movie to pique your interest:

I am using the movie feature on Blogger to upload this clip and it is taking forever to do something . . . supposedly it has already uploaded the 16 MB and now there is just this little circle going around and around. I can continue to edit the post, but I can't publish or close the window. I'm not so certain youtube isn't a better way to go.

MY TRIP TO THE APPLE FESTIVAL

First off, I forgot the camera; second, it was hot; third, the musical entertainment was pretty good in the swine barn; fourth, I had TWO apple burgers; fifth, I drowned myself in Bayou Billy Cherry Wine; seventh, the crowds had thinned out by 3 o'clock; eighth, I bought Brimfield noodles to take home; ninth, it was hot; tenth, I have no pictures of any of this, so that takes us back to the beginning.

I guess I am going back today for a little while . . . Bayou Billy mug in hand.

    APPLE FESTIVAL

Okay, I am not at the Apple Festival; I have driven there once to drop off people and again to pick up a person . . . who almost spilled Bayou Billy Cherry Wine on my pants in the car, but thankfully, did not. According to a snatch of conversation, "It's wall to wall people." So, shall I walk over later or not? Should I wait for tomorrow morning when it will be cooler - say at 10 when they open?

We were very disappointed that the Wellspring Fiddlers are no longer performing and I haven't figured out what the other entertainment is just by looking at the brochure.

WOO HOO LIGONIER POLICE DOG, SAMO, ON CNN

The officer and dog that were in the last post are now on CNN, I'm just sorry they didn't talk about the police vehicle speeding the dog to the vet.

    LIGHTS FLASHING AND SIREN SOUNDING

I finished transcribing some information from my ipod and decided to play a rousing cheer-you-up tune: Yankee Doodle Dandy and Grand Ole Flag by Gene Kelly. I set it to play over and over again - in my earphones. Looking around the internet, I saw an article about a policeman in Ligonier who saved his canine partner from choking on a tennis ball that had lodged in his throat. Even with ball removed, the dog was not responding to commands and breathing irregularly. So, with the siren on and lights flashing they headed to the vet who treats lots of police dogs. Police in Noble and Dekalb counties determined he was out of his office and over the radio redirected the officer to Fort Wayne.

Of course those lights should have been flashing . . . and the siren too. The image chokes you up. After all, there was an officer down.

    The dog is recovering nicely.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE LEARNING CHANNEL?

Hour after hour of LA Ink last night. Why? The night before were also three hours of tattooing. Is there nothing else worth learning about? Gosh, maybe the History Channel will start broadcasting shows about the history of tattoos . . . AAAACCCCCCKKKKKKK.

    REALLY INTERESTING

Hibernator sent me a link to a fascinating story about an oil rig in a shallow lake above a salt mine. HERE it is.

    LITTLE SUMMER IS NOT HAPPY

Yes, the Bengals lost. But Summer was not happy from before the get-go; it seems all the announcer predicted Cincinnati would lose.
